This booklet contains a professional paper contributed by Marie Hutchinson which links teaching practice with research in the area of teaching children with learning disabilities/difficulties.
Through its advisory services to parents, Speld Qld Inc. has identified a need for teachers of young children to be aware of possible indicators of learning problems so that early educational support can be provided. Such knowledge is important for parents and teachers for working together on behalf of children.
The Management Committee of Speld Qld Inc. believe that any support material for teachers of young children should be a ‘working’ document that would help them reflect on their everyday interactions with children in classrooms.
For this reason, the author has presented the paper in a form that lends itself to teachers ‘workshopping’ the contents, as individuals or in groups.
