Support, information and advice is offered to parents and other professionals via our Advisory Line.
Information packs are provided regularly, as are referrals to qualified professionals, for psychometric assessment. There is no cost for this service.
Psychological assessment is available by qualified psychologists specialising in SLD/D’s. An assessment should identify the extent of the problem, provide a comprehensive analysis of the learning strengths and difficulties and as well recommendations for educational advice including strategies that could be used. All assessments are accompanied by a full written report.

A range of seminars are presented by specialists in the fields of Specific Learning Disabilities/Difficulties for parents, teachers and other professionals. There is also the opportunity for parents to share with other parents and Education Advisors after these meetings.

All tutors at Speld Qld Inc. are experienced and qualified teachers. It is mandatory that all tutors have a current certificate of Teacher Registration and have undergone a security check (Blue Card).
Individualised instruction is provided both face-to-face and online. All tutors are required to provide parents with an end of semester report. This report must also be sent to Speld Qld Inc. at the end of every term.
It is an expectation that teachers will be able to devise individualised support plans for each student.
Tutor Professional Development:
Four sessions are held annually for Speld tutors so that they have access to current research and pedagogy about specific learning disabilities.
