2015 National Summit on Student Engagement, Learning & Behaviour

Joining us from San Diego on his first trip to Australia is the popular TEDx presenter, award-winning teacher and author of “Teach like a Pirate”, Dave Burgess. Dave has developed an international reputation for his high-energy, interactive and entertaining presentations, proving that teacher professional development doesn’t have to be boring!

The Summit program includes keynote presentations by Dr Andrew Martin, an expert in student motivation and engagement, and Professor John Smyth, who specialises in pedagogies for disadvantaged school contexts.
Interspersed between these keynote presentations are samples of research from leading Australian academics, together with school showcases, #TeachMeet presentations and panel discussions with participating school leaders and teachers.
The two days of the Summit are linked through an evening keynote featuring Maxine McKew, who will draw on her new book, Class Act: Ending the Education Wars, to discuss the transformation that's now underway in some Australian classrooms and which are helping to lift academic performance in some of Australia's most challenged schools.

The evening keynote will be followed by a reception sponsored by QUT’s Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Coaldrake.
