Sounds~Write is an evidence-based linguistic phonic program utilising an exciting and highly successful approach to the teaching of reading and spelling. The program is developmentally appropriate for beginning readers and also offers fast and highly effective intervention for children of all levels who have fallen behind in their reading and spelling.

The online practitioner course runs for six weeks (with four weeks of content). It includes synchronous Zoom sessions hosted by experienced Sounds~Write trainers.

Participants receive the same materials and information as the face-to-face workshop option, with additional videos and reflections that can be reviewed throughout the month. You will also be part of a group that progresses together and stays in touch via virtual community forums which are supported and facilitated by Sounds~Write trainers.

Schools can Register their Teachers using the Workshop Registration Form below. ?Payment can be via credit card (preferred) or Invoice.

Important information about the Sounds-Write online training

Please note that this is a very rigorous, high-quality professional development course involving a considerable amount of learning. Except for the weekly Zoom sessions, your study will be self-paced. It is important that you consider the time commitment required for the course and discuss this with your manager where appropriate (i.e. how and when you will have time to do the course). We strongly discourage you to try to fit the course around your other duties during a busy school or workday, such as in your lunchtime. It is important that you plan ahead so that you will have quality time to concentrate on the course, as it is demanding and will require active engagement on your part.

Week: Approximate time required
Week 0 2 hours
Week 1 8 hours
Week 2 8 hours
Week 3 8 hours
Week 4 8 hours
Week 5 8 hours

To pass the course and get a course certificate, you will need to complete and pass the weekly assignments. These include quizzes to check your understanding of the material, self-assessment tasks, and practice tasks.

You will be sent a Sounds-Write manual through the post and will receive it in plenty of time before the course start date. If you receive the manual and then are not able to attend the online course, you will need to return the manual at your own cost to get a refund (Cancellation and Transfer Policy applies).

To access the course and do the course activities, you will need access to a PC or laptop (including Mac). You should not do the course on your phone or on a tablet, as some of the quiz activities will not work well. The Chrome or Firefox browsers tend to provide the best experience.  If you are accessing the course website from work, it is your responsibility to check with your IT manager that the firewall at your school/workplace will enable you to access external content, i.e. the content from our course platform.  For some activities, you will need to video yourself. You can use the camera on your laptop or a mobile phone.

When registering for the course, you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions as set by Sounds-Write Limited.
