Working Memory and Learning
This course will provide teachers with the latest research on Working Memory Theory and its impact on learning for children with deficits in their working memory. The course will not only provide theory but specific intervention practices that can be utilised upon course completion. The course will continue to examine the impact deficits in working memory have on learning and reading and provide intervention practices for utilisation in both the mainstream and learning support environment.
Amanda Hicks has over 26 years experience in education in numerous roles and is a passionate educator and advocate for children, adolescents and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. Amanda has completed 5 university degrees in education with her research into working memory and reading resulting in the RIP IT UP Reading Program. She is currently studying her 6th degree with a focus on Social Work.
Not only has she assisted over 10,000+ individuals with severe reading difficulties and disabilities learn to read, she has also been involved in educating and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students through their studies. Amanda has lectured to thousands of educators and health professionals across Australia & New Zealand on the importance of working memory to the learning process. Amanda continues to support NGOs, DCJ, schools, conferences, seminars and individuals with research and evidence based knowledge and intervention.
