Event Details

This workshop will be of particular interest to parents who have concerns about their child’s reading or spelling and parents of young children who want the knowledge to provide the best support for their child’s literacy development. It will also be of interest to teachers working with students who have literacy difficulties, including dyslexia.

  • Find out about the current research regarding acquiring literacy.

  • Learn a unique and highly successful multisensory technique for effectively teaching spelling that can be applied to any spelling program.
  • Watch the strategies used by a successful speller.       
  • Discover the 5 components of reading competency and how you can help your child develop these skills.
  • Learn a simple strategy for helping your child read unknown words.
  • Find out the importance of daily reading and how you can help your child develop a love of books.

 

Dr Lillian Fawcett is a specialist literacy teacher with over 25 years of experience and university qualifications in education and psychology. She has developed a range of spelling and reading programs based on well-research literacy acquisition and memory retention principles which has enabled her to successfully help hundreds of students improve their literacy skills. Numerous teachers and schools throughout Australia are currently using Lillian’s evidence-based Cracking the ABC Code programs.
